Dear Majority Leader Scalise,
On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, we write to express our strong support for HR 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, and to commend your leadership in advancing legislation that brings much-needed accountability to the federal budget. Seniors across this nation are disproportionately impacted by the effects of inflation and deficit spending, especially those living on fixed incomes. We applaud the introduction of HR 4, which would rescind $9.4 billion in wasteful and unnecessary spending, as identified by the Trump Administration under the authority of the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974.
This proposal includes rescissions of $203 million from failed UN peacekeeping missions which have been marred by abuse and ineffectiveness. It further calls for the elimination of $169 million in funding to international organizations including the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the UN Human Rights Council – all groups that have repeatedly worked against American interests while relying heavily on financial support from the US taxpayers. Additionally, $33 million in carryover funds from previous appropriations would be rescinded, consistent with recent executive orders to withdraw from or reassess US participation in certain global bodies.
We also support the proposed cuts to controversial foreign programs that promote radical ideological agendas, including taxpayer-funded initiatives related to “equity,” environmental extremism modeled after the Green New Deal, and destabilizing political efforts abroad. Finally, the bill rightly targets federal subsidies for partisan public broadcasting entities like NPR and PBS, which no longer serve as neutral platforms and should not receive taxpayer funding.
Your legislation represents a return to fiscal sanity and prioritizes the interests of AMAC members across the country over wasteful international entanglements and domestic ideological programs. Thank you for your leadership and for standing up for the values and financial well-being of America’s seniors.
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
