Executive Order Ends Biden-era “Gun Violence Public Health Advisory”

The Biden-era public health advisory on gun violence has been officially removed by the Department of Health and Human Services following an Executive Order from President Donald Trump.

The advisory, initially issued by former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, had classified gun violence as a “public health crisis,” has officially been taken down from the Department of Health and Human Services website.

The move aligns with Trump’s recent sentiment to protecting Second Amendment rights and rolling back policies viewed as restrictive to gun rights and gun ownership.

Trump’s Executive Order also directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to review and potentially recommend rescinding other policies and regulations enacted under the previous administration that could be perceived as infringing on gun rights.

As of the time of writing this article, the 30-day deadline and 7-day extension have both passed and gun rights activists are awaiting Pam Bondi’s recommendations.

Furthermore, the decision follows his earlier move to shut down the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, further reinforcing his administration’s stance on limiting government intervention in firearm-related issues.

The National Association for Gun Rights is hopeful more Biden-era firearm restrictions will be rescinded soon.
