Under President Donald Trump, the federal government has now officially acknowledged what Democrats and the scientific establishment disparaged as a “conspiracy theory” for years: the virus that causes COVID-19 likely originated in and escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China.

Trump was one of the earliest proponents of the so-called “lab leak” hypothesis in his first term, suggesting that the Chinese government’s “natural origin” story didn’t match up with established facts. But with other figures like Dr. Anthony Fauci parroting Beijing’s narrative, the media derided Trump and anyone who called for further investigation as a “conspiracy theorist.”

Fast forward four years, and a bombshell House Oversight Committee report released last December further confirmed the assessment of multiple government agencies that COVID-19 most likely did not have a natural origin.

As part of his promise to ensure the truth about COVID-19 – and the attempted cover-up of how it spread around the world – is told, the Trump White House recently removed federal government web pages related to the pandemic and replaced them with a flashy new landing page that reads, “LAB LEAK: The True Origins of COVID-19.”

The page provides a concise yet information-packed synopsis making the case for the lab leak hypothesis. It notes specifically, “The virus possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature,” and “By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t.”

Most of the details on the page come from the aforementioned House report, which was led by former Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

As the report notes, recent analysis of the COVID-19 virus contradicts the narrative forwarded by Dr. Fauci and others at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In a 2020 interview with National Geographic, Fauci stated that scientific evidence “very, very strongly” supported the idea that COVID-19 “could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated.” Rather, the virus most likely “evolved in nature and then jumped species,” he said.

But according to the report, there was never any strong evidence to rule out a potential lab leak scenario. Wenstrup discloses that “more and more senior intelligence officials, politicians, science editors, and scientists increasingly have endorsed the hypothesis that COVID-19 emerged as the result of a laboratory or research-related accident.”

One such official is former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, who testified before the subcommittee that evidence for the lab leak theory is “long, convincing, [and] even overwhelming,” in contrast to the “spillover” theory, for which evidence is “nearly empty and tenuous.”

The report also notes that the NIH “funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology” (WIV)—an allegation Fauci has continually denied.

An affiliation between the NIH and WIV is concerning, as scientists at the latter institute are known for creating “chimeras, or combinations of SARS-like coronaviruses through genetic engineering” and employing “reverse genetic cloning techniques on SARS-like coronaviruses.”

As the new White House webpage notes, summarizing the subcommittee’s report, “All COVID-19 cases stem from a single introduction into humans.” This differs from past pandemics, where there were multiple spillover events.” Moreover, WIV researchers exhibited symptoms of the virus months before the earliest cases were officially documented.

Other notable takeaways from the subcommittee’s investigation, which are reflected on the new White House webpage, include:

  1. Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is being held accountable for issuing a “disastrous” March 2020 directive that “forced nursing homes to accept COVID-19 positive patients.” According to an investigative report from the New York State Attorney General, the disgraced governor and his administration failed to accurately report nursing home deaths, undercounting the “total number… by as much as 50 percent.” The report also found him guilty of attempting to “cover up the tragic aftermath” of his “deadly” directive.
  2. Despite the success of President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed, which worked to quickly develop and distribute a COVID-19 vaccine, the vaccine mandates later implemented by President Biden “were not supported by science and caused more harm than good” by quashing the medical freedom of millions. In many cases, non-compliance with vaccine mandates resulted in job loss, as a 2021 Job Cuts report listed “vaccine mandate refusal” as “the 10th highest reason for job cuts” that year.
  3. The report suggests that COVID-19 “may not have the same lasting effects to health, culture, and the economy as the government’s policy response” to the pandemic, which included nationwide lockdowns and strict social distancing guidelines. Although the U.S. economy recovered from the COVID-19 recession, consequences of the “unscientific” lockdowns are being felt to this day. For example, research compiled in the report shows increased childhood speech delays since the pandemic. Additionally, speech-language pathologists report “seeing more children with emotional or behavioral difficulties… delayed language or diagnosed language disorders… [and] social communication difficulties.”
  4. Americans’ free speech was significantly restricted during the pandemic, particularly when the Biden administration pressured “major technology companies” like Meta and Twitter to change “their content moderation policies” in an effort to censor alleged misinformation. According to emails obtained by the subcommittee, the White House directly pressured Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to remove Facebook posts “which claimed that COVID-19 was ‘man-made, manufactured, bioengineered, a bioweapon, or created by an individual government or country, which includes claims that the virus was modified through gain of function research and leaked from a lab.’”

When Joe Biden took office in 2021, the explosive details about COVID-19’s origins were already beginning to come out. But through a coordinated campaign of online censorship and collusion with friendly legacy media outlets, the voices demanding further investigation into the lab leak hypothesis were silenced.

Now, with Trump back in office, they are finally, at long last vindicated – just another case where the “conspiracy theorists” have proven “the experts” dead wrong.
