2026 Medicare costs are in, and beneficiaries can expect increased cost-sharing across Part A, Part B, and Medigap plans next year. Whether you’re enrolled in Original Medicare, Medigap, or paying IRMAA, it’s essential to know what these changes mean for your retirement budget. Let’s take a closer look at what’s changing and how you can stay ahead of the curve.

Part A Costs

Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility, hospice, inpatient rehabilitation, and some home health care services. According to the Social Security Administration, about 99% of Medicare beneficiaries already receive Medicare Part A premium-free; this is not expected to change in 2026.

If you have to pay for Part A, your premium will be either $311 or $565, depending on your work quarters. Additionally, there will be changes to the copayments and deductibles for Part A services.

2026 Part A Costs:

  • Inpatient hospital deductible is $1,736
  • Daily coinsurance for 61st-90th day in the hospital is $434
  • Daily coinsurance for lifetime reserve days is $868
  • Skilled Nursing Facility coinsurance is $217

Alongside Part A, Part B will also experience notable premium and deductible increases.

Part B Costs

Medicare Part B covers doctor and specialist office visits, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, and durable medical equipment. While the coinsurance remains 20%, Part B premium and deductible amounts are higher next year.

2026 Part B Costs:

  • The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B is $202.90
  • The standard monthly premium for Part B Immunosuppressive Drug coverage is $121.60
  • The annual Part B deductible is $283

Some Medicare beneficiaries pay an additional income-based surcharge called IRMAA. This too is rising in 2026—and understanding it is crucial for higher-income retirees.

If you are liable for a Part B or Part D Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA), prepare for higher surcharges. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS, attributes these increases to a variety of economic factors like rising prices and utilization across the health care system. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Deductibles

For those enrolled in Medicare Supplement plans, also known as Medigap, deductibles will increase next year. Plan C and Plan F are the only plans that cover the Part B deductible, however they are not available to people who enrolled in or were eligible for Medicare after January 1, 2020.

If you have a high-deductible plan, or one that doesn’t cover the Part B deductible, the updated deductible amounts for 2026 are as follows:

  • $2,950—Applies to High-Deductible Plans F, G, J
  • $283 (Part B deductible)—Applies to Plans A, B, D, G, K, L, M, N

While Medigap premiums can vary based on a variety of factors, knowing your deductible in advance can help avoid costly surprises down the road.
