Trump honors fallen Lt. Tyler Feehan as ‘flawless, perfect person’ at Georgia event
President Donald Trump on Wednesday paid tribute to Army 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, calling the fallen officer a “flawless, perfect person” and thanking his parents.
Speaking at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, Trump recalled meeting Feehan’s family after a transfer ceremony earlier in the day and said they were traveling to Georgia.
“Beautiful family, beautiful wife and husband and brother-in-law. And they said, ‘I’m going to Georgia.’ I said, ‘Where are you going?'” Trump said. “So if you want, I’ll give you a ride on Air Force One,” Trump said he told the family.
“And we’re here today.” Trump said he told the family they were honoring the memory of their “beautiful son.” “This is a son who was like a flawless, perfect person, beautiful, beautiful son, handsome in every way, brilliant, respected by everybody,” Trump said.
Feehan, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was among the four U.S. service members killed in Jordan while supporting a U.S. mission. Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was also among those killed.
“Lieutenant Tyler Feehan … he was a person that was going all the way,” Trump said.
“He was going to be a general. He would have been a general very quickly. He was heading in that path.”
Trump then addressed Feehan’s family directly. “But I just want to thank Tyler’s mother, Sherry, his father, Stephen, and his uncle David. Great people. I got to know them a little bit on the plane and standing there and watching this site.”
“To Sherry and Stephen and David, we will carry Tyler’s memory in our hearts forever. I just want to thank you. It’s an honor to have you here today,” Trump said.
